Offence - against the law
“Hands Free” - this is a device that allows the mobile telephone to be answered without using your hands to operate it
Vehicle - motor car, van, lorry or anything considered to be one under the law
Using a mobile phone in a vehicle
It is an offence to drive a vehicle on a road while holding a telephone in any way while the vehicle is in motion. It is not an offence to use a phone in a vehicle, through a 'hands free' system.
The law which applies is the Road Traffic (Jersey) Law 1956 (as amended).
A person guilty of this offence shall be liable to a fine not exceeding level 2 on the Standard Scale of Fines
