---------------------------------------------------
Who We Are
JEDS stands for Jersey Eating Disorders Support which is a registered local Jersey Charity providing support for those affected by eating disorders and their families and friends.
JEDs was set up over 30 years ago and became a registered charity in 1998. The aim of the charity is to provide a safe space where people can share their experiences. It is for those living with an eating disorder and the people supporting them.
We aim to raise public awareness and encourage education about eating disorders within Jersey.
JEDS is run by a group of people who have either experienced an eating disorder or they have been involved in caring for someone with one.
What We Do
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic JEDS currently holds support group meetings by Zoom every Monday evening from 6.30 - 7.30pm for those living with an eating disorder and those who care for them. Once we are able to, we will be holding seperate meetings for each group at the Jersey Library. 6-7pm for those caring for a loved one with an eating disorder and 7.30-8.30pm for those living with an eating disorder.
The purpose of the meetings is to provide a safe space where people can share their experiences. The opportunity to be heard and supported by JEDS is open not just to people directly affected by an eating disorder but to people who care for and are supporting someone who is affected.
We think that when you're able to share a personal story with others who are experiencing similar challenges, it help..... JEDS is here to support you.
At JEDS we will encourage our group members to seek professional help and if ready, embark on a professional treatment programme. As with any disorder, it is best to allow the person affected to decide when/if they are ready to seek help and take charge or the situation. At JEDS we provide the support they need to help them make these decisions.
We also offer free counselling and peer support. Please email if you
