Triumph Over Phobia
Self-help group for all types of phobias. Structured self-treatment groups have been set up in Bath, Liverpool, Birmingham and Jersey, under the auspices of Professor Isac Marks, to help those suffering from a phobia to overcome their fears using a self-help manual 'Living With Fear'.
Only those with recognisable phobias or obsessive compulsive disorders can be helped by this method.
Those taking benzodiazepine drugs (eg Valium, Ativan, Xanax) or alcohol, are not suitable for self-exposure treatment until they have cut down to a minimal dose. Antidepressant drugs, however (eg Imipramine, Cloripramine, Prothiaden) are perfectly compatible with self-exposure treatment.
