One of the aims of the Citizens Advice Bureau is to exercise a responsible influence on the development of social policies and services. The evidence we gain by helping people to resolve individual problems is used to tell policy makers and service providers about the impact of policies and advocate change. Our policy work focuses on:
We are currently campaigning for changes to the bankruptcy laws to make it easier for people with long term debt problems to obtain the relief of a personal bankruptcy. We are also collecting evidence on the concerns elderly people and their carers have about the high cost of residential or nursing home care. In addition we are campaigning to make fairer and more transparent the way landlords treat rental deposits taken from tenants.
