LOCAL INFORMATION 10.8.1.L2 Extent: Jersey Introduction Family Nursing and Home Care Inc is a charitable organisation funded by subscriptions, donations, legacies and grants from the States of Jersey and various parishes. They have District Nurses, Health Visitors, Specialist Nurses and Home Care Assistants, a stores/supplies service and volunteers who assist with well-baby clinics. There is also a community laundry service available. The staff of the service are skilled in meeting the health needs of the population. Although they do not provide services specific to people with learning difficulties, they can assist in providing for the physical health needs of this client group and work with other agencies involved in their care. For families with any child with special needs, a specialist Health Visitor is available to offer advice and assistance. Staff are based at Le Bas Centre, St Saviours Road, St Helier, Gervaise Le Gros, St Aubins, Oak Tree Gardens, Trinity Hill, Eastern Good Companions St. Clement, Communicare, St. Brelade and Bethlehem Clinic, St. Mary. There are two multi-disciplinary locality teams within the following parish boundaries: East: Grouville, St Martin, St Clement, St Saviour and St Helier (east) West: St Brelade, St John, St Lawrence, St Mary, St Ouen, St Peter, Trinity and St Helier (west) Costs There is no charge for Health Visitors and advice, but if District Nursing or Homecare is required it is necessary to become a member. Membership costs £45 per person per year, £90 for a husband and wife, £90 for a family. This entitles members to free district nursing but charges are made for medical supplies. Further charges are levied for domestic and personal care undertaken by Home Care Assistants, for further information please telephone. People who join, and require services within 3 months, will pay an additional £20. Philosophy of care To provide a timely and comprehensive range of high quality community nursing and home care services which are cost effective, accessible, appropriate and sensitive to the needs of the population they serve. Liaison They have a valuable range of close working relationships with both States and voluntary organisations such as Meals on Wheels (see 10.8.6), Women's Refuge (see 8.22.4.L2), Jersey Hospice Care (see 10.6.7.L10 and 8.62.3.L25), Shelter Trust (see 11.1.1.L2), Alzheimers Disease Society (see 10.2.57), Jersey Blind Society (see 10.2.7), Variety Club (see 8.62.3.L2 ) and many others. To provide co-ordinated care they work closely with hospitals, General Practitioners and other professional colleagues under a strict code of confidentiality. To service the best needs of the client, they continue to work closely with the parishes who often request their services on clients behalf. Referrals: from District Nurses, GP's etc. Homecare assistants (Level 1) The tasks undertaken by the Home Care Assistants include essential cleaning, laundry, shopping and minor personal care. Contact: GP or Home Care Supervisor Rates from 1/1/09: :Standard charge is £14.05 Band A (up to 3 hours per week), £25.30 Band B (up to 8 hours per week), £30.90 Band C (more than 8 hours per week) per week but clients on income support benefit may be entitled to free assistance. Day Sitting Service £4.75 per hour.
Give extra help and support in daily living tasks such as assisting clients to dress and undress, shopping, paying bills, collecting prescriptions and would undertake light domestic duties.
