Jersey Citizens Advice Bureau - Jersey Women's Refuge ( 8.22.4.L2 )

1 The Jersey Women's Refuge offers safe accommodation for women and their children suffering from physical and emotional abuse. There are seven bedrooms with en-suite facilities. The kitchen, laundry room, childrens play area and lounges are shared facilities.

2 Advice and counselling on variety of issues including Welfare, housing, child care. There is no pressure to persuade the woman to leave the relationship

Who can use the Refuge

3 Any woman suffering from physical or emotional abuse can contact the Refuge. Women do not have to be residentially qualified in order to stay in the Refuge or to receive help. Portuguese speakers available.

What is domestic violence

4 Domestic violence includes any form of physical or emotional abuse by partners, children, ex-partners or other family members.

5 Emotional abuse can be worse than physical abuse, it leaves no scars is not easy to prove and can have long term effects.

6 The location of the Jersey Women's Refuge is kept confidential.
